WALESBY PARISH COUNCIL
Minutes of the meeting of Walesby Parish Council held on Monday 5 March 2026 at 7.00pm in Walesby Village Hall.
Present:, Cllr David Thurman (Chairman), Cllr D Milles, Cllr Judith Sweny, Cllr Tanz Norgrove, Cllr Peter Braithwaite, Cllr Stephen Wilson, Cllr Mandy Ashley.
In attendance: Mrs V Davies (clerk), LCC and WLDC Cllr S Bunney,
There was 1 member of the public present.
10/2026 APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE.
There were no apologies.
11/2026 PUBLIC FORUM.
Proposed Cllr Thurman seconded Cllr Milles to suspend the meeting for a public forum.
The issue of the finger post for the village hall was raised. Cllr Thurman had raised the issue and would chase up the matter.
A parishioner had asked if there were any grants for a bench for the village hall. There were no grants until the next financial year.
Discussion took place regarding a generator at the village hall. This was not being pursued due to the costs of the electrical
Cllr Thurman proposed Cllr Ashley seconded and agreed by all councillors to close the public forum.
12/2026 DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST UNDER THE LOCALISM ACT.
There were no declarations of interest.
13/2026 TO APPROVE THE MINUTES OF THE MEETING HELD 12.1.26
Proposed Cllr Thurman, seconded Cllr Sweny and unanimously agreed to approve the minutes of 12.1.26. Cllr Thurman signed the minutes.

All items were contained within the minutes.

There had been a request to reimburse the cost of refreshments for the litter pick of £39.22. Proposed Cllr Thurman seconded Cllr Braithwaite and agreed unanimously by all councillors to reimburse these costs.
Proposed Cllr Thurman, seconded Cllr Braithwaite and agreed by all Cllrs to approve the cheques.
Cllrs noted the financial reports.
16/2026 PREPARATION FOR INTERNAL AUDIT
TO APPOINT AN INTERNAL AUDITOR
Proposed Cllr Thurman seconded Cllr Braithwaite and approved by all Cllrs to appoint the same auditor as in previous years (Steven Wilkinson).
TO CONSIDER REQUEST TO MAINTAIN THE DEFIBRILLATOR
A request was made for the parish council to pay for consumables for the defibrillator. (Defibrillator pads and battery) when required. The defibrillator had been purchased by the residents of Walesby from donations. It was proposed that the residents of Walesby would be asked if they wished to donate towards consumables (defibrillator pads and replacement battery. It was noted that the defibrillator needed to be registered with organisations such as the Circuit in order that the emergency services were aware of its existence. A nominated person would receive reminders to check the defibrillator. Joe Magrin was willing to look after the administration of the defibrillator.
Cllr Thurman would write to the villagers requesting donations towards the defibrillator maintenance. Any monies received would be ring fenced in the Parish Council accounts.
17/2026 HIGHWAYS UPDATE
The Parish Council thanked Cllr Norgrove for her work reporting highways issues.
Discussion took place regarding HGV vehicles using Otby Lane. Cllr Norgrove would contact the farmers involved.
Discussion took place regarding a large vehicle going on the grass verge opposite Stables Cottage on Moor Road. The clerk would contact Arden Farms regarding this matter.
18/2026 PLANNING APPLICATIONS. TO CONSIDER ANY PLANNING APPLICATIONS AND TO NOTE ANY APPROVED SINCE LAST MEETING.

The parish council had no comments.
19/2026 DATE OF NEXT MEETING
Monday 18 May 2026 at 7.00 pm. Annual Meeting with Parishioners followed by Annual Meeting of the Parish Council.
