WALESBY PARISH COUNCIL
Minutes of the meeting of Walesby Parish Council held on Wednesday 5 November 2025 at 6.45pm in Walesby Village Hall.
Present:, Cllr David Thurman (Chairman), Cllr D Milles, Cllr Judith Sweny, Cllr Stephen Wilson, Cllr Peter Braithwaite.
In attendance: Mrs V Davies (clerk), WLDC Cllr Stephen Bunney
 
There was 1 member of the public present.

 
49/2025 APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE.
Apologies were received from, WLDC Cllr M Westley, Cllr Tanz Norgrove, Cllr Mandy Ashley.
 
50/2025 PUBLIC FORUM.
 
Proposed Cllr Thurman seconded Cllr Sweny to suspend the meeting for a public forum.
 
Discussion took place regarding the missing wooden sign post at the bottom of Hall Drive which previously directed to the Village Hall. This has been replaced by a metal post on the opposite side of the road. Cllr Thurman would contact the Public Rights of Way highways representative.
 
Cllr Thurman proposed Cllr Wilson seconded and agreed by all councillors to close the public forum.
 
51/2025 DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST UNDER THE LOCALISM ACT.
There were no declarations of interest.
 
52/2025 TO APPROVE THE MINUTES OF THE MEETING HELD 8.9.25
Proposed Cllr Thurman, seconded Cllr Sweny and unanimously agreed to approve the minutes of 8.9.25. Cllr Thurman signed the minutes.

Proposed Cllr Thurman, seconded Cllr Braithwaite and agreed by all Cllrs to approve the cheques.

TO AGREE BUDGET FOR 2026-2027

 
Cllrs discussed the budget for 2026-2027. The Parish council as a whole agreed a budget comprising of Income £2,740, Expenditure £2,740 with a precept of £2730. Proposed Cllr Thurman Seconded Cllr Braithwaite and agreed by all Cllrs to approve the budget with a precept of £2730. This was 0% increase on 2025-26

 
55/2025 HIGHWAYS UPDATE
Cllrs noted the highways report from Cllr Norgrove and thanked her. The Parish Council thanked the members of the public who had reported faults on FIXMYSTREET.

Road eroded beneath tarmac at road edge if collapses 600mm drop 1200mm x 400mm 15/8 Investigating 7/11 reported again as eroded further collapsed 300mm into carriageway. 8/11 Asked to look again at 2807897 also & pothole in between 17/12 Inspection done 2/1/25 Looking to do permanent fix once flooding subsided. 20/2/25 Road closed as dealing with pipe in verge to alleviate flooding & then will do repair to drop off 23/4 email received from Jeremy Rowett saying repaired but asking if correct location or other another. 24/4 email sent to Jeremy saying it had not been repaired & barriers still in situ 13/5 Rang Highways to chase for an update from Jeremy 11/6 Update says investigating. 9/7 Contacted highways saying no response still from Jeremy last report gone to another highways officer so they will ask them to liaise with Jeremy to see what can be done. 21/8 Job allocated to be done 4/11 FINALLY WORKS BEING DONE WILL BE COMPLETED 5/11/25.

18/6 Investigating 1/7 Say water beneath the road causing problem & they have contacted utility companies. Will not repair it until water stops flowing. 9/7 Rang Anglian Water to see if they had been advised. They had no knowledge of it so have now done a report ref. 27785604 & will investigate within 1 week & report back with update. 9/7 Rang Anglian Water to see if Highways had contacted them, they hadn’t so advised them of situation. 10/7 met up with Ben from Anglian Water to show location & explain what Highways said. They will check for any leaks & report back but says the mains in the field not road. AWA confirmed no leaks and therefore I contacted Highways again to advised them & ask for repair to be done 31/8 Job complete
